Let's dive into the details and uncover what it takes to become a Head Constable with the SSB.

Recruitment and Vacancies

The Ministry of Home Affairs is leading this recruitment drive, aiming to fill 115 vacancies for the prestigious Head Constable (Ministerial) role. These positions are Group-'C' Non-Gazetted Ministerial (Combatised) roles, offering a unique opportunity to serve and protect.

The vacancy breakdown is as follows:

  • Un-Reserved (UR): 47
  • EWS: 11
  • OBC: 26
  • SC: 21
  • ST: 10

Additionally, 10% of the total vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen, a category that is exempt from the PET but must still undergo the PST and subsequent stages.

Physical Standards and Efficiency Tests

To qualify for the Head Constable role, candidates must meet specific physical criteria. The PET and PST are designed to test your physical endurance and overall fitness.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

For male candidates, the PET involves completing a 1.6 km race within 6 minutes and 30 seconds. Female candidates, on the other hand, must complete an 800-meter race in 4 minutes. These tests are a true measure of your physical stamina and speed.

Note: Ex-servicemen are exempt from the PET but must still appear for the PST and subsequent stages.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

The PST focuses on height and chest measurements. For General/OBC/SC/EWS (Male) candidates, the minimum height is 165 cms, and the chest measurement must be at least 77 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms. Female candidates from these categories must have a minimum height of 155 cms.

Height relaxations are provided for candidates from specified hilly regions and Scheduled Tribes, with the minimum height reduced to 162.5 cms for males and 150 cms for females.

Documentation and Venue Requirements

On the day of the PET/PST, candidates must be prepared with the following documents:

  • A clear and legible printout of their admit card.
  • A valid photo identity proof, such as a passport or driving license.
  • A printout of the acknowledgment of the online application form.

Failure to produce these documents will result in disqualification, so make sure you have everything ready and organized!

Pay Scale and Benefits

The selected candidates will be placed in Level-4 of the pay matrix, with a basic pay ranging from Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100 per month. In addition to this attractive salary, successful candidates will also receive various allowances, including Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, and Washing Allowance, as per government orders.
